EVERYTHING IS FINE is an infinite loop video experiment that toys with the commonly used words for calming oneself. The video attempts to put the validity and honesty of those words into question by absurding them through repetition, layering and transparencies inside the video.
AIKA AKHMETOVA is a New York-based artist, originally from Kazakhstan, Almaty. Their work references indigenous Kazakh traditions and rituals, often manifesting in sculptures, videos, performances and writings. Finished pieces bring up themes of queerness, abject, tradition, norm and violence. Akhmetova has exhibited in the US and Kazakhstan. They studied Painting at Rhode Island School of Design and is currently an MFA candidate at Columbia University. Akhmetova currently lives and works in NYC.
