A mediation on two photographs about two events and two individuals who made different choices under parallel circumstances.
BARIS GOKTURK is a Turkish artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. Gokturk reconstructs historical documents and archival photographs about historically overlooked events or individuals in three-dimensional layers, hybrid fragments and installations that oscillate between drawing, painting and sculpture. Recent museum projects and exhibitions include SECCA in Winston-Salem, Pera Museum in Istanbul and Helena Anrather Gallery, New York. He also completed public commissions by Columbia University’s Butler Library and The Public Art Fund in New York.
