This video piece explores the impact of memory, storytelling, and cultural artifacts on shaping personal and collective identities. Drawing from archival material detailing the artist's family history in El Salvador, the film follows the director’s grandmother Anita, as she recounts her journey crossing the border in 1976 and again in 1980 to save ten more people.
DENISSE GRISELDA REYES (b. 1993. they/them) is an multidisciplinary artist whose work spans videos, films, paintings, and performances as their alter-ego, Griselda. Their current work investigates the traces of affect on identity through technology and archival material, focusing on the limits of retelling history and the space between myth and reality. They received an MFA from Columbia University and a BA from Wesleyan University and now work in Brooklyn, NY.
